Brief Information Vivien Leigh was a British actress known for her roles on stage and screen. She is most famous for her portrayal of Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 epic film Gone with the Wind, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Leigh also won another Academy Award for her role as Blanche DuBois in the 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire. She had a prolific stage career, particularly with the Old Vic company.
